The Dutchtub
The Dutchtub, developed in 2002 by the Dutch Designer, Floris Schoonderbeek, is a natural wood-fired soak tub with a modern flair in simple and functional design.
We first heard three years ago of this amazing thing, which is a self-contained hot tub which can be placed in even the most remote locations. The tub is a lightweight and portable hot tub that heats water the old fashioned way: with fire (and the fact that hot water rises). It is colorful, fun, effective and (to the best of our memory) doesn’t cost a lot of money.
This friendly solution for outdoor bathing in virtually any environment is handmade of polyester and features a stainless steel heating system that works off wood logs and can be regulated via an adjustable basket. It’s available in 6 bright colors. There are also two models of the Dutchtub that differs in shape and size. If you have water and wood than you don’t anything else to use this hot tub.

Tutorial : Dino fürs Baby
Für einen Dino für Kleinkinder braucht Ihr folgendes Material:
– 2 Stoffteile, am besten Baumwolle, von jeweils ungefähr 20 x 17 cm
– Dino Form
– Nähgarn
– Nähschere
– Stecknadeln
– Rasselscheibe (Option)
– Verschiedene Reste von Webbänder
– Füllwatte
– Nähmaschine
Zuerst zeichnen Sie eine Dino Form auf weißes Papier (die Form können Sie freihändig zeichnen oder in einem Zeichenprogram auf Ihrem Computer formen) und dann schneiden Sie die Form aus.
Nehmen Sie die 2 Stücke Stoff und legen sie rechts auf rechts aufeinander. Dann legen Sie die Dino Form aufs Stoff und zeichnen sie ab ohne die Nahtzugabe von 1 cm zu vergessen. Damit sich der Stoff nicht verzieht, sollten Sie die beiden Seiten mit Stecknadeln festhalten. Mit der Nähschere die Form ausschneiden. So haben Sie 2 Dinos!
Die Webbänder alle auf eine Größe zuschneiden (ca. 4 cm lang). Sie können entweder verschiedene Webbänder nehmen oder nur von einer Sorte, so wie es Ihnen am besten gefällt. Die Webbänder aufeinander falten, so dass die gute Seite nach außen liegt.
Nehmen Sie einen Dino und stecken Sie die Webbänder mit Stecknadeln auf dem Rücken fest, auf der rechten Seite und die gute Seite der Webbänder sollen nach „innen“ auf den Dino liegen. Mit einem Geradstich am Rande des Rückens festnähen.
Den 2. Dino mit der rechten Seite auf die rechte Seite des anderen Dinos (der mit den festgenähten Webbänder) legen und stecken beide Seiten mit Stecknadeln fest. Um sicher zu gehen dass beide Stoffe nicht verrutschen, können Sie einmal schnell mit der Hand beide Dinos zusammennähen, ehe Sie das Ganze mit der Nähmaschine festnähen.
Jetzt können Sie mit der Nähmaschine beide Stoffseiten mit einem Geradstich zusammen nähen. Vergessen Sie nur nicht die Naht an Anfang und am Ende mit einem dreifachen Stich zu versiegeln und eine Wendeöffnung von ca. 5 cm zu lassen (bspw. auf dem Rücken oder unter dem Schwanz). Ich setze normalerweise noch Dehnungschnitte an allen Ecken und Rundungen nachdem beide Seiten zusammen genäht sind.
Jetzt die Sticknadeln rausnehmen, den Dino durch die Wendeöffnung wenden und mit Füllwatte füllen.
Schließen Sie die Wendeöffnung entweder mit einem Geradstich ganz nah am Rand oder sonst mit einer unsichtigen Zaubernaht per Hand. Und fertig ist das Dino!
Ich nähe die Dinos normalerweise im Doppelpack : einen größeren und einen kleineren, und im Großen verstecke ich dann eine Rasselscheibe so dass das Kleinkind noch mehr Spaß damit hat!

Le propulseur de chocolat!
D’après de récentes études, le nez jouerait un rôle important au niveau du goût de notre alimentation. D’où l’idée de laisser également profiter le nez d’une dégustation de chocolat, et ceci sous forme de poudre de cacao dont le goût peut être intensifié par le goût de la framboise ou gingembre/menthe.
D’après la petite histoire, le fameux chocolatier belge aux idées très spéciales, Dominique Persoone, aurait été demandé d’organiser le buffet au chocolat pour Mick Jagger. Voulant innover en ne passant pas par la traditionnelle fontaine au chocolat, il s’est décidé de présenter un autre engin plus exceptionnel qu’il a expressément développé pour cet événement : le chocolate shooter – un propulseur de chocolat !

Le CookBook de plan K
Originalité quand tu nous tiens ! Cette année, l’équipe de plan K a à nouveau frappé fort avec leur carte de fin d’année concoctée à la sauce plan K, sous forme d’un petit livre rempli de recettes fastoches et de bonnes astuces.
Ce sont tous les collaborateurs de l’agence qui ont participé à la rédaction de ce recueil de recettes et qui se dévoilent ainsi au fil du livre. Vous y trouverez par exemple une recette chic avec le « vodkviar » ou encore celle de la salade grecque qui se dit légère ! Avec chaque recette, vous aurez l’occasion de découvrir le collaborateur en question ainsi que sa bonne résolution ainsi que son astuce culinaire.
Le tout a été rédigé sur un ton léger, amusant à lire. Un indispensable qui ne devrait manquer dans aucune cuisine!

New Made by Fredke labels!
My new labels Made by Fredke arrived just in time to be placed under the Christmas tree!
With the new blog and Made by Fredke logo, I had my plans made to replace my actual sewing labels with the new design. After a detailed search on the web, I opted for Alles für Selbermacher, a nice little German online shop where you can find all you need for your sewing projects: fabrics, e-books, stickers, plotter, buttons, stamps, etc.
It is also quite easy to order your own labels. You have either the choice between uploading either a design, a drawing or just use their label designer tool. They do propose different forms of labels (I chose the bookcover).
Once you have ordered your label, your artwork is checked in their graphic department and you will receive an email to approve the size and your design. The next step is a pattern which is scanned and mailed to you for approval of form and colors.
After the copy has been released, begins the programming, weaving, sealing, cutting, controlling … And 4-6 weeks later, you can hold your own labels in your hands and I must admit that I am really, really happy with the result!!

Homemade Xmas cards with masking tapes
It’s Christmas season and about time for us to prepare our homemade greeting cards. And like every year we are handcrafting them. This time we decided to use our numerous masking tapes I collected over the last months.
Here what you need
- Different kinds of masking tapes
- Several pages of drawing paper
- Cutting mat
- Cutter / pair of scissors
- Ruler
- Stamp
- Ink pad
- Envelopes
First of all, measure the different envelopes you’ve got to get the sizes for your cards. Cut the drawing paper with the ruler and cutter on the cutting mat (to avoid eventual cracks in your desk) to the size of your cards. As we have different sizes of envelopes, our cards also are cut in different sizes and folded in 2.
The front of the card is going to be decorated with a Xmas tree using the different kinds of masking tapes. For the trunk of the tree, we use golden tape without pattern. For the different parts of the tree, use various kinds of masking tapes that you cut into strips of several sizes. Then paste first the long strip over the trunk, than on top a smaller strip, followed by a smaller one… until the strips form a tree. We paste a star on top of the tree with masking tape. You can also use a star-shaped stamp or draw a star to finish the tree.
To finish the card, you can either write the seasons greetings by hand or use, as we do, a stamp with the text. Now you just have to sign them and send them to your friends and family!

Deutschlands beste Hobbybäckerin ist Luxemburgerin!
Glückwünsche an Jill Waxweiler, die gestern Abend die Finale der 2. Staffel der deutschen Fernsehshow „Das Grosse Backen“ auf SAT 1 gewonnen hat!
Die Backsendung ist heute morgen in aller Leute Munde und wurde die letzten 4 Wochen über von zahlreichen Luxemburgern verfolgt. In jeder der vier Folgen standen die 10 Freizeit-Bäcker vor vier anspruchsvollen Challenges. Je nach Aufgabenstellung waren exaktes Nachbacken vorgegebener Rezepte, leckere Kuchen aus dem eigenen Repertoire oder kreative Ideen zu einem bestimmten Anlass oder Motto gefordert.
Gejubelt wurde dann auch bei vielen zuhause als gestern Abend die Gewinnerin von der Jury um Konditorenweltmeisterin Andrea Schirmaier-Huber und Patissier Christian Hümbs mitgeteilt wurde! Die Freizeitkonditorin hat die Summe von 10.000 Euro gewonnen und darf Ihr eigenes Backbuch veröffentlichen auf das wir schon ganz gespannt warten!
Der Erfolg wurde auch direkt in den Luxemburger Medien veröffentlicht worden: RTL, Wort, Tageblatt, L’Essentiel!

My first pop up store Made by Fredke
Last weekend took place the pop-up store Made by Fredke at the Inside store in Luxembourg. I was quite excited about this, as it was the first time for me to exhibit my homemade treasures to the public…
On Friday afternoon, I passed at the store to deposit all my stuff in order to be ready for Saturday morning 10 am when the shop opened its doors: the cushions found their place on the chairs, the aprons and bibs in the kitchen section, the t-shirts and kimonos in the dressing, etc.
The 2 days passed so fast, I’ve gotten so many impressions and so many people came to the Inside store to discover my creations, it was just amazing! It was a great success and almost all my little handmade treasures have found a new owner. The pop up store even got a press review via wort.lu!
A big THANK YOU for all of YOU who came and had a look at my pop up store @ INSIDE group s.a.! Hope you all found the special little handmade treasures you had been looking for! You all made my weekend!

Pop-up store project
It was the idea of Celine, one of our writers, to organize a pop-up store on a weekend in December at the Inside hom&interior shop in Luxembourg-City with Made by Fredke. It should give me the opportunity to show to the public the different little handmade treasures that I was creating.
Preparations began after the summer holidays with favorite monster pillows and the dogs. Our little one was happy, thinking that all of these would be for him, to keep him company in bed at nights… Well I had to disappoint him, explaining him the purpose of my sewing!
Than came my denim phase in which I decided to up-cycle our old jeans trousers. So I first cut the jeans into stars of different sizes. Than I sewed the stars with neon sewing thread, linking them with gimp in the same colour to create 2 different sizes of garlands: one with 3 stars for doors and the other one with 5 stars, intended either for the Christmas tree or as a wall decoration. I lost my heart to the pink one, which, if it won’t be sold, I will put on our front door!
Working in the stars, I continued the momentum with my beloved star pillows finally using all the special tissue I collected during some months. I also sewed some bonnets & loop set for the kids, bibs, baby kimonos, dinosaurs, t-shirts, skirts, crowns…
In the end, I am not even sure if I have created enough of all those little treasures…
