NEW IN TOWN: COCOTTES GARE

Some good news in this rainy weather: A brand-new Cocottes, known for their yummy (take away) ready to eat dishes made out of healthy, varied and seasonal products, has just opened in the rue de Bonnevoie at the Gare! And, together with some fellow food bloggers, I got the chance to discover this new address and to test some of their new autumn plates. My verdict is once again: a TOP address!

The concept of this take away of a new kind, initiated by Stéphanie Jauquet (Um Plateau), is based on a simple idea: to offer healthy, fresh and authentic food for an abordable prize. The ingredients are all issued from local bio farmers and small artisans, with a spirit of sharing and a passion for good things. Everything is freshly cooked each day by a professional cooking team. On the menu: different kinds of salads, sandwiches, soups (100% vegetarian, gluten free and often lactose free), tarts (sweet and savoury), catering dishes, glass jars, desserts, fresh homemade juices and many more can be found in the fridge display or at the counter. You even have the possibility book the Cocottes for your catering needs.

Right entering the place, I fell in love! Like the other Cocottes restaurants, this one also takes back the architectural codes of the house: black and white with some drops of blue and green. On the right side the huge fridge with all their fresh products, on the left the counter with some more food and in the back the cosy restaurant area where you can relax eat your lunch in an urban jungle ambiance. You either have the choice between the small round tables (furniture by by Buzzi.space), a large table to share with other guests or the high table in the corner.

Now for the menu: it’s as delicious as I am used to! Next to the traditional sandwiches, you can find a vegetarian one with grilled zucchini and aubergines, avocado, peppers, spinach sprouts topped with some feta cheese cream. The salad choices got also some new tastes: the orange superfood one, the autumn superfood salad or the one with buffala, fig and Italian ham to name just these.

As you for sure know, I am a big fan of the dishes proposed in the glass jars. (Just check out in the DIY section of the blog…) I could just kill for one of those… Ok, I’m just kidding! I tried the new butter chicken and it was just amazing! New on their menu are the wild mushroom risotto as well as the crozets (kind of pasta), pumpkin and coppa (Italian ham) one which looked great too! And the tom yum soup with tofu, scampi’s or chicken… a warm balanced lunch composed of a lightly spicy soup with coconut milk and lemongrass, noodles, crunchy vegetables and herbs… a delight!

Cocottes proposes not only vegetarian dishes, but also some without lactose and without gluten, like the Indian vegetarian wrap, the tandoori chicken salad, the poke Buddha bowl or the yummy acai bowl, one of my preferred bowls! And to start the day, you can have some of their homemade fresh juices…

Some interesting facts about Cocottes: Their unsold products are collected by the Luxembourg Red Cross and Inter-Actions for families and people in need. With their eco-responsible approach, only PLA cutlery which is 100% biodegradable is being used and they support the selective waste sorting « eco-conscious »… Thereupon:

Bon appétit!
