AKABO: LUXEMBOURG'S FIRST FASHION BUS

There was this Luxembourgish family of five who was really aware of the environment and who did care about what they were wearing and who had problems to find shops offering modern, ethical and responsible apparel. As this seemed impossible to find, those parents of three kids decided to open their own shop selling cool sustainable fashion. But this shop should not be a normal one; it would be a shop, which would be mobile…

Ethical responsible apparel is the guiding principle of the Akabo Fashion Bus, the fashion project by Lyne and Karel Lambert, both passionate musicians and parents. The bus, discovered by Karel last year in Germany, has been entirely restored and transformed into a fashion shop. Presenting their concept of a mobile pop up store to different international fashion labels, all of them were convinced that it was a great idea where they had to be part of! That’s how Lyne and Karel got the chance to represent some of the coolest, ethical and responsible labels present on the actual fashion market.

The fashion bus first opened its doors beginning April this year after one year of planning and preparing, a new concept store on wheels.

We had got the pleasure to discover the Akobo (name of an ancient Indian dialect no longer spoken) fashion bus this Sunday in Steinfort at the “Brunch Printanier Fair-trade”, which was, by the way, a nice concept featuring fair-trade and local products, which we hope will be re-conducted!

As I had already heard about the bus beforehand, I was thrilled to finally discover it. And I must admit: Congratulations! It is indeed an interesting and alternative way to discover young and cool fashion labels who produce in an ecological and sustained way. We’ve got the chance to discover some new fashion brands like

recolution : casual, urban and North German clothing

WEWOOD: watches made out of wood

image

BeWooden : modern design meeting traditional hand-work

Bag To Life: bringing back to life old materials in transforming them into design objects

image

Palo: premium wooden eye wear brand from Barcelona

207 Skateboard-Recycling: transforming used skateboards into jewelry and other useful objects

Those are only a selection of brands from the Akabo Fashion Bus. Feel free to get in and to discover by yourself all the great brands and labels it carries. Actually the bus stops each day at one of the Naturata shops across the country. You can check its schedule on the website of the Akabo Fashion Bus. You also have the possibility to rent the bus for your events, party’s and other occasions.

Ethical and responsible fashion can be really smart and cool!
