How to...

A quick makeover…

I went to check out  the Troc (one of those shops where you can buy and sell second-hand stuff like furniture),  in Esch the other day.

I was searching for some specific items but ending buying some completely different objects. That’s how it is to be a style junkie, and always looking for interesting things and a great buy. This time my eyes zoomed in a beautiful crystal lamp. I was indeed ready to leave the lampshade since it looked rather filthy.

Luckily I didn’t, on my way back home I came up with this idea. To spray paint the shade in black and copper. I normally use hobby spray (to suit different surfaces) from a DIY store (AVA, Hornbach etc).

It is easy and quick to do, but remember to do several thin layers rather than one thick that could easily end up with running paint. And of course choose a spot that could be a be messy (garage or outdoor) to do this kind of work.

I’m happy to have transformed this white and innocent lamp into something bold and mysterious. So go ahead and search your attic or basement for items you can up cycle and give new life to!
