NON-TRADITIONAL ADVENT WREATH WITH GLASS JARS

In the meantime, you surely already know the COCOTTES take away and its jars, filled with yummy dishes made out of healthy, varied and seasonal products?!? You can either eat them at COCOTTES restaurant at Limpertsberg, either take them with you to savour them at home. They just simplify your life! I specially love the “Bouneschlupp”, a traditional Luxembourgish dish. And in the meanwhile, I do already have a rather large collection of these jars in different sizes at home, which I just love to re-use and recycle in an unusual, offbeat way…

Now I plan to use the big jars as advent wreath… For this, you need 4 jars, 4 candles, pearl colorspray (you can also use white or gold or silver, it’s up to you!), strings and ribbons, glitter, different kind of Christmas decorations (either old ones or new ones you’ll find in the decoration and home interior shops like Ava, Bastelkiste, Ikea, etc.), scissors, glue, etc.

In my idea, the jars are not fully transparent, that’s why I decorate them with some pearl colorspray. For this, I cut out some stars of different sizes, glued them on the jar before spraying it. It’s best to do this outdoors, ’cause of the smell of the spray… Let dry before taking off the star stickers. Of course, you can also use star stickers for this step. And what’s cool: washing the sprayed jars in the dish washer will take off the spray traces.

Around the necks of the jars, I laced up different kinds of ribbon with some Christmas ornaments. Then I poured glitter in the bottom of the jars before adding the candles. I finished the wreath with some glitter garland I placed all around the 4 jars before adding some more Christmas ornaments…

You still have to decide where your advent wreath should stay. And as always, I really can’t decide about the right place to install this years’ homemade advent wreath: in the middle of the table as a centerpiece or either on top of the mantelpiece?

And how about you? Which Christmas decoration have you created with your empty COCOTTES glass jars?

And don’t forget to light the first candle on Sunday, November 27!
